Black Summer Truffle

T. aestivum vittadini is produced in many European countries including Greece and Cyprus where maturation comes a bit in advance compared to other Northern European countries. It can be easily cultivated, giving relatively high rates of harvest.

Summer truffle or Scorzone has a very pleasant hazelnut-like aroma. 

The flesh of the truffle (gleba) has a characteristic paler hazel color with whitish thin veins while the external part (peridio) - black coloured  - is fully covered with pyramidic warts. 

Fructification: End of April - End of August
